Sterling Bank advises customers to beware of fraudulent attempts by criminals to obtain personal and financial information via text messages, phone, or e-mail. In many instances, individuals are led to believe that their account has been deactivated or somehow compromised and are asked to call a specific telephone number, where a recorded message instructs callers to leave their name and credit card number. In other cases, individuals are asked to click on a link to a Website.
If you receive unexpected communication from a person you don’t recognize seeking confidential personal or business financial information, it may be a fraud. If you have a question about the legitimacy of such an inquiry, please contact your Sterling Banker or Sterling’s Call Center at 888-777-8735. Please also forward emails to infosec@banksterling.com.
